Can some people help me? I don know if my ex-girlfriend is still intrested in me but I can’t tell, maybe she is or maybe she isn’t. Can some people tell me what the signs are? Know what I mean?I still love this girl but I don’t want to embarrass myself and ask her out and her say no. I need help.

Despite living in the ‘singles capital of the world,’ with unlimited access to matchmakers, dating coaches and singles events, finding love continues to elude a majority of New York singles.

In 2009, self-proclaimed, ‘forever single’ girl, Amber Soletti, disillusioned with the NYC dating scene, co-founded her own dating services. Her business goals? “To find myself a man while subsidizing my income and hooking up my single friends in the process,” says Soletti.

Almost four years and close to 400 singles events later, she’s thrilled to take herself off the market, having finally met her match through one of her NYC singles parties.

“My business partner and I started the company because we were so unimpressed with the dating events we’d attended,” explains Soletti. “At the time, they were only based on age range and seemed to attract a majority of unattractive, socially awkward singles.”

Amber, a former brand marketer for Fortune 500 companies like Avon and Estee Lauder owned Aveda, quickly shifted the dating paradigm by being the first to offer “themed” speed dating events and singles parties based on people’s dating “deal-breakers” through the launches of her dating services OnSpeedDating and SingleAndTheCity.

With super niche and sometimes controversial themes such as “Hung,” (for women wanting to date well-endowed men 7″+), “Tough Love,” (where singles find out why they were not selected as a match), “Child Proof,” (for singles that don’t ever want kids) and “Skinny Minny,” (for men that want to date women size 0-8), the company took NYC by storm. Despite all the publicity and success, and even dating at many of her events, Amber still found herself single.

“I would participate in the speed dating events and have men not believe that I was really single,” says Soletti. “I constantly had women say to me, ‘If you’re still single after going to all of these events, what hope is there for me to meet someone?’ I truly started to believe that I would be single forever and made the conscious decision to give up on meeting someone for myself, and instead solely focused on helping others find relationships.”

It was just a few months after this time at her New Year’s Eve singles party, that Amber would end up meeting and instantly falling for Juan Cabrera, a 6’6″ strapping Dominican, six years her junior.

Celebrating their one-year anniversary this past New Year’s Eve, Amber and Juan recently re-located from NYC to her hometown of Austin, Texas, where they just made their relationship official filing for domestic partner status. She, along with her business partner Carmine Di Re, continue to oversee the NYC businesses. At the same time, they are also in the midst of introducing their successful dating services in other cities, starting with Austin.

Using the Easter Holiday to Find Love

This year, the Easter holiday falls on March 31. On that Sunday many people will be gathering in churches to celebrate Christ being raised from the dead. Could this be an opportunity to meet the love of your life? And would this be considered sacrilege? So how would you take advantage of Easter in order to find the right man? I would suggest by going to an Easter service, where people are welcomed to gather and meet in churches. Meeting the love of your life in a place of worship is a great idea that many single women havent actively considered or done right when it comes to getting a boyfriend. Youd be surprised at how many single people are in a church for various reasons; strict upbringings, lack of a social life, being devoted to it, wanting to meet their wife in a church, or maybe because its a completely different social network from the one people travel in. This is something I tell single people all the time if they are having trouble finding love, try a completely different circle from the one they’re used to.

Daniel went on to explain why he believes its a good idea. First of all, you already have religion and a core belief system in common, so youre already over a major hurdle that can occur in relationships. Secondly, a church is a great place to develop a strong community of support and mutual friends for your relationship. Do nicer guys go to church? Or do the men there have better intentions in relationships? I cant say for sure, but I do know that their belief system encourages monogamous, faithful, and lasting relationships. So that has to say something right?

Where some would consider it sacrilege to be using the time to be looking for love instead of celebrating Easter and its true meaning, Daniel replied with, There are many religions that encourage their believers to marry people of the same faith. The Christian and Catholic faith are among them. So I dont see a problem with an attitude of wanting to find your match through a church. Isnt that what they want? Isnt that what they have been encouraging? Back in the old days, the church was the foremost way people met their spouses. In many different religions, people were matched through the church or place of worship, they didnt have internet dating. The church was the local meeting place; it was the Facebook equivalent when it came to networking along with being a place of worship. People being matched through a place of worship is a tale as old as time, whether people nowadays are aware of it or like it.

Daniel then concluded with some final thoughts, When it comes to how to meet someone through Easter successfully, follow these tips;

Make sure you stick around after the service and talk to people. Many people will just leave right away because they feel awkward in a new setting, and as a result they never network with other people or get a chance to meet.

Be friendly and sociable, going from a first time visit to forming a romantic connection with someone may take some time. Get involved in the groups and activities the church has to offer and build it from there.

Other people there can be busy with the service or feel just as shy as you, so dont feel awkward. Keeping eye contact and a great smile with people is the most inviting way for a conversation to start.
